Our story

Why we started Code Sage Labs

Code Sage Labs started in Colombo with a small group of engineers who had spent years building software inside larger organisations and wanted to do the same work more directly: fewer layers, closer to the people who actually use the software.

Our first projects were for businesses in Sri Lanka, including logistics companies that needed a proper web presence and the systems behind it. That work taught us that most businesses do not need a large vendor. They need a small team that understands the problem, builds carefully and stays reachable.

Today we work with businesses and agencies in Sri Lanka and in other countries, delivering remotely across time zones. We are still based in Colombo, still small on purpose, and still doing the engineering ourselves.

How we work

Four words we would rather be measured against

  • Direct

You talk to the engineers doing the work. There are no account managers relaying messages in either direction.

  • Lean

A small team with experienced people on every project. Less overhead, fewer handoffs, and no one learning on your time.

  • Practical

We choose technology because it fits the problem, not because it is new. Proven tools by default; newer ones when the problem needs them.

  • Long-term

We build so the software can be maintained by whoever comes after us, including you. Documentation, infrastructure as code, and a clean handover.

Security and delivery

How we handle access, code and data

  • Access control

We access client systems through named accounts with the minimum permissions the work needs. Access is removed when the engagement ends.

  • Secure development

Code goes through review and automated checks before it reaches production. Secrets live in environment configuration, never in the repository.

  • Confidentiality

We sign NDAs before discussing sensitive detail, and we do not publish or reference client work without permission.

  • Code ownership

You own the source code, infrastructure definitions and deployment pipelines. Nothing is licensed back to us.

  • Production access

Production access is scoped to the task and granted through your accounts wherever possible, so you stay in control.

  • Data handling

We work with the minimum data needed, keep production data out of development environments, and never use your data to train models.
