What a software development company should actually do

The job is to understand a business problem well enough to know which software solves it, then build that software so it keeps working after the people who built it have moved on. Most of the value is in the first half. Code that flawlessly implements the wrong requirement is a more expensive failure than code that is merely untidy.

That shapes how we engage. We ask what the business is trying to achieve before discussing technology, and we say so when the answer is to configure an existing product rather than build something new. We would rather lose a project than deliver one that should not have existed.

How we choose technology

We pick boring, proven technology by default and interesting technology only where the problem genuinely requires it. Java and Spring, Go, Python, Node.js, React, Next.js, PostgreSQL — these are choices you can hire for in Sri Lanka and internationally, which matters far more than any benchmark when you are the one living with the system.

The exception is where a problem is genuinely new. Production AI is the clearest current example: retrieval pipelines, vector search, and model evaluation have no decade-old equivalent to fall back on. There we build carefully and keep the fast-moving parts behind interfaces, so that a change of model is a configuration change rather than a rebuild.

Infrastructure is defined as code in Terraform and runs on AWS or GCP. This is not sophistication for its own sake — it is what makes an environment reproducible rather than a thing that exists because someone configured it correctly once and hopefully wrote it down.

How engagements are structured

Three shapes cover almost everything. We deliver a project end to end; we join your existing team under your technical direction; or we take a scoped specialist piece nobody in-house has time for. The choice depends mostly on whether you have engineering leadership with capacity to direct another team.

Whichever shape it takes, delivery is iterative with running software at the end of each cycle. You see the real thing early, because that is the only reliable way to find out a requirement was misunderstood while it is still cheap to fix.

What you own

Source code, infrastructure definitions, and deployment pipelines are yours. No runtime licence, no component only we can operate, no structural reason you cannot take the work in-house or to another firm. Vendor lock-in is a business risk dressed up as a technical detail, and we do not build it in.

Working with a team in Colombo

We are based in Colombo and work with clients across Sri Lanka and internationally. Sri Lanka Standard Time is UTC+5:30 with no daylight saving, giving a full working-day overlap with South Asia, the Gulf, and Southeast Asia, and a substantial morning overlap with Europe.
